One of the new students, Lynda, and I headed to a nearby lake for the weekend.
Adventures of the Gringos:
I asked around school what time the direct bus left Xela and was told with certainty 11:00am. So, we met at 9:30 to walk the hour to the bus station and arrived a few minutes before 10:30 to realize the bus doesn't actually leave until 1:00pm.
I argued (in my best spanish) with more men than normal trying to make sure we weren't missing it. We sat for a good 45 mins on this bus (see crazed out school bus above) with no one else. I wasn't worried because of the information I got when talking to all of the bus officials, but Lynda thought we were going to be driven off to nowhere and killed (a little dramatic). No worries, the bus filled and we were off without any problems...it just took us 6 hours to get to the lake that is 2 hours away.
Beautiful little town!
Lynda is the girl in purple on the right.

All the cute shops. I only bought 2 things...but Lynda was a sucker!
She bought tons of stuff, usually little things, so she could ask for a picture
of the women with her store! Oh man...no the fly under the radar way I usually travel.

A nice shop owner I bought sandals from.
