Xela

It's raining cats and dogs, but I am here and settled into my home for the next 2 months.  I was welcomed by 7 of Jeff's family members at the airport on Sunday and spent the day with them around Guatemala city.  It was quite the show trying to communicate with my limited spanish and their limited english...but we had a great time.  They are always so welcoming and loving!

The first night was spent in Jeff's house as we caught up and got organized.  Mari, his sister, tried to teach me how to do the rubix cube.  Needless to say, I wasn't the fastest learner...but there were lots of laughs had!  It was weird to be there without Jeff, but I am glad I have this time to get to know his family better.

The next morning (Sunday) we arrived in Xela and I was introduced to the school and my house.  We actually took a look at a few options, thanks to the negotiating skills of Jeff's mom (Liz called her the guatemalan "mamabear").  I ended up in a great house with a nice family.  The school is so organized and only 2 blocks from the house I am staying in.

All is well here...sending lots of love y abrazos!
